Our History
ABC Fur Hats Manufacturing Inc. (“ABC Manufacturing”), founded by Steven Knopp in 1989 has been involved in the fur trade and production of fur hats for over 28 years. Once a small sub-contracting company it has since grown into a full-fledged manufacturing corporation that supplies thousands of hats and accessories to hundreds of stores across North America. Our staff at ABC Manufacturing consists of a large group of experienced and dedicated employees many of whom have been with the firm well over 20 Years.
Our firm’s attention to detail, quality control and aggressive pricing have allowed us to secure strong ties with retailers across North America, who depend on us to fulfill orders, manage tight deadlines and supply their customers with the best quality fur products and accessories.
ABC Manufacturing is a family business managed by Steven Knopp, a second generation furrier, who is training his son Jason Knopp to one day take the reins and exercise the skills and techniques passed down from his grandfather.
Products
ABC Manufacturing specializes in the production of fur hats and accessories. From mink to fox, chinchilla, coyote, beaver, and muskrat; every hat follows a rigorous production process and is inspected thoroughly for defects on the outer shell and fur. Everything has to be perfect otherwise the hat doesn’t leave the shop! This obsession for perfecting our products has lead us to becoming one of the most respected hat manufacturers in Canada.

Our hats and accessories are all manufactured in Canada at our 5350 square foot factory (located at 960-1625 Chabanel West).

Environmental Policy – ABC Fur Hat Manufacturing Inc. (“ABC Manufacturing”)
ABC Manufacturing is committed to manufacturing quality fur hats and fur accessories in a way that minimizes our potential impact on the environment. ABC Manufacturing will operate in compliance with all environmental legislation and strive for best practices in everything we do.
ABC Manufacturing policy therefore is to:
- Purchase materials from suppliers that do the least damage or positively impact the environment
- Integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into our decision making and activities
- Minimize our waste and then reuse or recycle as much of it as is possible
- Minimize energy and water use within our plant to conserve supplies and minimize the consumption of natural resources.
- Train, educate and inform employees about environmental issues that may affect their work,
- Promote environmental awareness among our employees and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner,
- Communicate our environmental commitment to clients, customers and the public and encourage them to support it
Environmentally responsible manufacturing
ABC Manufacturing recognizes the importance of manufacturing earth-friendly, eco-friendly fur products and sources all of its supplies and materials from sustainable business such as the North American Fur Auctions.
Environmentally responsible waste disposal
All types of waste that are generated during manufacturing activities is meticulously identified, classified and recorded to track the quantities of waste generated and where it was disposed. ABC Manufacturing strives to minimize the production of non-recyclable, non-compostable waste and sets targets year-over-year.
Waste reduction
ABC Manufacturing strives to reduce waste by employing efficient manufacturing by buying higher quality equipment and ensuring the production floor is well maintained at all times. By taking care of the sewing machines and other ABC Manufacturing has been able to use equipment well beyond its suggested life.
Packaging
ABC Manufacturing uses recycled materials in the majority of its packaging including second hand or recycled boxes.
Re-use strategies
ABC Manufacturing re-uses almost all waste from its production process including lining, leather, and foam that are used to produce accessories such as “pom-pom” key chains.
Recycling
ABC Manufacturing recycles all post-production materials that cannot be re-used.
